They are neo-wedge bulbs...something like that, they have a plastic disc on the bottom that spins into the socket on the cluster

I've heard you can use 74s? But you'd need to modify them a bit to make it work.

im not looking to mod my gauges...not yet at least....i just need to know the size of the bulb because a couple of months ago i took my car in to the shop, and i've notice that the check engine light doesnt come on anymore.....just today i took apart the gauges and found out that they must have taken out the bulb...SOB's....so i took out the light indicator for the tail light and put it in the check engine spot....

sssoooooo....i just need to know what size, i've read some of the thread, but im just not sure which ones...is it 3mm or 4mm???...their the ones with the brown on the bottom...not the black ones..

Just go to a local salvage yard, snatch all the bulbs out of another gen3 gauge cluster, pocket them and walk out. That's what I did. While you're there, you may even find a few other bits and pieces you may want.

There is a thread with the exact bulb specifications. Or try the dealer. (I think price was about $1.75 per bulb) My advice is to get the right bulbs before you start. I was sold the wrong bulbs by a large auto parts chain store, and the job took a long time because of that.

if the car still has a gauge cluster in the dash, then 100% chance the bulbs will still be there.I've been to a couple of salvage yards in my area, and every gen3/3.5 I came across still had a gauge cluster in the dash.

That's why a salvage yard is better. The parts will be OEM, and sure to be the right ones.

You guys have pick and choose yards? Our yards aren't like that, at least I don't think, we have to ask for what we want and they get it for us if they have it >_<

...but, did you check if the gauge cluster was still in any of them? If not a Camry, then any other Toyota of around the same year would have the same type bulbs in their gauge clusters.
