ok so i put a n1 look alike exhaust on my car and it had a very deep tone to it but was also pretty loud...but today i put headers on my cam and it took away most of the sound.
does anyone know why that is??? and if i delete my resonator and straight pipe it or put a glasspack in between my catalytic and muffler will it sound like it did before or even better???
btw how can i put pictures on these posts so i can put a pic of the headers for u guys
i dont know about the headers, buttttt...i know how to post pics
first...go to the gen3 forum as u did....
then look at the "how to post pics" sections...
but if your lazy this is what you do...photo bucket....upload to there, then copy the IMG line and post in here and your done,,but dana15 said it better in the READ ME post....hope that helps...
well the headers may have helped flow so the sound and exhaust may be smoother. removing the resonator will make it louder but may alo make it raspy. what headers did you get, cuz i didnt think they came with a cat.
got sound clips to cpmpare? this would actually be a good thing to most.

put the stock header back on and your good. ive noticed this engine gets very raspy sounding when you delete the cat but sounds deep when you keep it regardless of resonator delete.

Yep the car would have too much flow so that's probably what's causing the sound of the car to sound a little different.
I'm no expert on this but the principal would go like this:
Small header pipes = higher pressure, higher velocity and higher temps
Large header = less pressure, lower velocity (maybe higher flow) and slightly lower temps
The temperature and velocity of the exhaust past the engine would change the overall acoustics throughout the exhaust.
^+1 for voting to have him put it back and make a sound clip for us!
Can you rig a EGT on there too and tell us what the temperature is?

actually after driving it for a while i think ill leave it like that kuz u kno how camrys get really raspy around 3k rpms well now it reaches 5k rpms easily and gets really loud but no raspiness sounds like a mini subaru lol... and ill put up some sound clips wen some snow melts over here....and idk how much horsepower gain i got but it sure does pull a little harder and a difference in acceleration...and i only got the headers from a celica i didnt get the downpipe beacause mines is new, but they had to cut the flange off and add a new pipe to go around the engine mount which wasnt too bad i paid $100 bucks to get it all done...as for the egt ill try and do that soon since i was thinking of adding some gauges so ill see wat i can do with that.

In theory, the mass flow rates should be the same. But you are right about the velocity, pressure, and temps.
