98 Camry V6 Starting Problem

98 Camry XLE V6 (1MZFE) @ 80,000mi. on motor 115k on body.

The other morning I went to start the car it would crank but wouldn't turn. It was running fine the night before. Fuel pump was working fine and there was spark. Put a bit of starting fluid and the car went up to 1k RPM and than cut right back off. Again it would crank but wouldn't turn. - On a side note it was around 5F the night before. The car than started up fine and gave me no problems until the next cold morning but again started around the afternoon. The car hasn't given me a problem starting since the second time and much wasn't done.

What could have given me that start problem? Someone said crank sensor could be going bad, is it possible?

Battery original? How many minutes of driving do you do between starts? Either you are not charging the battery enough - Check with volt meter or the temperature at 5F there may not be enough power to crank the engine.

A friend tried to jump the car. We left the jumps connected for atleast 30 min. and he revved it for 5 before we tried to start the car and it still would crank but not turn. I had gas and I only use premium. Also the battery isn't a even a year old yet. Its a duralast gold.

98 should have the 3 coils and wires pull one f the wires running to the back and check for spark, if you have spark look at frozen gas lines/ dead pump

my car kinda does the same thing. Its a 2000 4cyl, but on really cold morning it starts "hard". It sorta stumbles to turn over then it revs up and its fine. I cleaned the TB, got new plugs, wires, and coil packs. Its better now, but if its 10 degrees in the morning it still does it a little bit. And i have a two year old toyota battery, and i just had it checked out and its still fine. Dont know what does it other than just cold weather.

So this happens only when low temp?

Maybe it's icing in the gas line. Also check the engine coolant temperature sensor, the two wire deal that tells the ECU the temperature:

Crank sensor is just a magnetic pickup. They can go bad, but there are others in the front of the line.
