Thumbs up $ 2,600 thrown into my camry. Now she can live to see many more years : )

Just gave my baby a compete tune up from new tires, struts on all 4, new alternator, new water pump, alignment, new rack and pinion the list goes on and on. I got everything done at pep-boys this past weekend and the car handles and drive like beauty. I know its expensive and my friend was like why am I throwing this much money into the car. He doesnt understand how much I love my camry. The best part is getting everything done at pepboys I can bring the car back at anytime if anything goes wrong. Ahhhh the power of warranty

I've also done a lot to my camry since the last time I posted it here so when I get them imma gonna get some pics together for you guys.

You can take a look at the rack yourself. The boots on mine were both busted. If you lock the wheel of the car to the left or right, you will be able to see the boots and mine were busted but the rack was fine. Sometimes you dont need to change the whole Rack. I went to teh Toyota dealer before I went to Pepboys and Toyota told me the rack and pinion needed to be changed, but when i took the car to pepboys they said I just need to change the boots (the rubber things on each side of the rack) That was all I changed and the car handles wonderful. The power of second opinion . IMO I don't trust the dealer.

It's amazing how new struts can transform how the car handles, huh?

Dealer Labor will always cost more, the way the technicians make profit, is performing a more intensive job, replacing rather than repairing.

& nice, im glad your keeping your cam top notch.

I don't blame you for putting this amount of money into a known-good car, toyota obviously doesn't build them this well now!

the struts on my 02 V6 are starting to show signs of needing replacement. the little bouncy-bouncy over the high spots in the road that goes on just a bit too long. I will put it off for quite a while though because i am a cheap skate.
I have a harbor freight coil compressor tool but i lost most of the parts! So i will have to buy a new one ($10). I have liftetime wheel alignment at goodyear too and got that when i got the car, 4 years ago. The guy gave me $100 off for that so it was $125, glad i did it.
So when i get around to changing the struts hopefully it just costs me the struts and thats all.

You could go to autozone or kragen to rent the compressors. Pay $50, get $50 back, so you don't have to buy any compressors.

yea i know one of my boots is Ripped, my problem is i get a POP in the steering when i straighten my wheels in a parking spot. They said something about the inner tie rods needing to be replaced.

As for struts on my car....haha...ask adam...the date on my front struts are June 1995.

I had the rears replaced a few years ago.

Nice! That makes me think, I wonder if there is anyone on TN who's put soo many miles/kilometers on a Camry they rolled the odometer over to all zeros. I'm sure that would be a VERY short sign-in list.

Somebody with a Saab 900 did that IIRC. And to think I thought that an Audi 90 CS with 250,000 miles that I test drove was a lot!
