4th Generation 25MPG is this good?

Hello fellows.

I just wanted to touch base with you and know how is my Camry regarding fuel economy.

Mine is a 1997 1MZ V6 Auto and here in Costa Rica I am getting 24.97 MPG.

How I am getting the average? I just fill the tank and count between each fill. The driving includes a lot of hills and trafic, not city but it does have trafic.

What do you think?

Thanks for your comments.

Fuel economy is hard to say "good" or "bad" because of how subjective it is and no one is going to have th exact same habits and drive the same roads - but 25 MPG sounds decent. I've gotten as high as 30 MPG but mid 20s sounds about right based on what kind of driving you said you do.

The best I've ever gotten was 31, but that was a road trip at 65mph the entire tank

Your mpg will also will depend on what kind of gas you use (to a certain extent), such as whether or not it has ethanol or other additives...
For city driving though 25 is really good. With the PA winters I'm getting 17 because I let my car idle every morning for a while.

How many stops and starts on the average trip? 25mpg is insanely good for stop-and-go city driving, insanely bad for "point the car and drive with no stops" driving.

95 V6 1MZ sedan doing 240 miles a week in traffic and freeway of which is 1/3 of the miles. I get 22-24mpg.

Short story. A year ago I broke my right foot. Had to wear this giant inflate a boot on that foot for 2 months. The little camry got 26 and 27mpg!

The moral of the story is; when your ankle don't bend you can't romp on it! The gas that is! Other things still got romped on!

Trust Me, I'd rather have the 3VZ or 1MZ.

But my 5SFE costs like $0 to run. So I'm willing to give up performance.
