How the hell do you mount these lights on the inside of the light? (closest to the panel) On the gen 3.5 there are screw mounts that you screw a nut onto, the gen 3 clear/red lights i just got, they just have holes....
any ideas? I know people in here have gen 3.5 with these Red/Clear lights on....
hu? IIRC they mount from the inside not on the outside. there are long studs that protrude from the back of the light and you screw thoes down through holes in the trunk. i never remember seeing any holes on the sides of my lights.
The only thing I dont like is that the lights dont match the contour of the center panel. The only way to do that is to get the gen 3 center panel. Although I like the gen 3.5. Thats why I did the swap. Also Bigbird is right. There are two 10mm nuts on the inside of the trunk behind the carpet. They will remove the little piece with the two screw heads on it. Hope that helps.
I know it doesnt mount on the outside of the light. The problem is there are no bolts on the light, I just have holes on the light in the spot that is kind of close to the holes on the body of the car. Im not sure what I need to do. Do the screws come off the gen 3.5 lights? I dont see how that would work anyway because the holes on the lights do not match up to the holes on the body. its very strange to me....ive seen these lights on gen 3.5s before, i dont understand how these would be any different.
But I only wanted to switch the center panel! Though, I do like the 3.5 center panel, its just that I have to bondo and paint it over cause of the camry peg holes..
Well, if you do, the gen3.5 tail lights will stick out farther at the bottom than the SE panel. Obviously, the opposite is true for gen3 tail lights, and a gen3.5 center panel. The only way it will look right(up close anyway), is if all the parts are from the same generation. Otherwise, if you're within ten feet of the car, you'll be able to spot the inconsistencies in the lines between the bottom of the lights, and center panel.

Im pretty sure the piece with the two bolts should be able to be removed from the OE lights. Just swapped over to gen 3.5. from gen 3. Everything was pretty plug n play. I cant imagine it would be much different than OE. Depo wouldn't mass produce something for a Camry that would take any sort of serious modification for installation.
Here are the pics of the lights...i should have done this first anyway....
Gen 3 on top, Gen 3.5 on bottom
Gen 3.5 broken up top, leaking which is why i got these clears anyway. The screws are on the right, but they are coming from the housing, i do not believe they come out.
Gen 3 back, notice there are no screws on the right.
Front of each.
I do not believe im retarded....haha there has to be a bolt missing or something

shit looks like something might have been broken off on those gen3 ones, top right of that pic. id confirm that but my trunk cant open so i cant remove mine.
