3rd Generation 9006 lights, does more expensive = better?

i am planning to change out the low beam bulbs, typically i just go for the regular off the shelf sylvania blubs.

after a quick search on the web (ebay, amazon) i found a bunch of those so called super white . hid-like bulbs.

http://www.plasmaglow.com/catalog/pr...roducts_id=108

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Toyot...Q5fAccessories

i have been traditionally old fashioned and just stick with whatever sylvania or ge bulbs, any comments or suggestions?

i don't want to blind other people or modify anything, but wouldn't mind spending a few extra bucks to get brighter light, welcome to suggestions.

those are higher wattage and tend to burn up the wiring harnes (did to mine)

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/TOSHI...Q5fAccessories

those are the brightest you can get with doing a hid retro

out of curiosity, is there a place that i can buy these bulbs rather than a ebay vendor?

yeah, listen to guys, I would have gotten HIRs myself if they ever start making them for H4 sockets. since I couldn't get HIRs I went with HIDs, but that's a PITA with installation of ballasts (power converters), additional wire harness and stuff.

HIRs are possibly the best brightest thing you can get and it's just about bulbs, the only modification you have to do is to bulb base (shaving off a plastic pin so it fits 9006 socket), very easy. they are brighter than HIDs, so make sure your lights are adjusted properly after installation.

Are these bulbs both high and low beam like the stock units?

Make sure they are within regulation for inspection in the place you live. Just because they are DOT approved does not mean they are legal for your local laws. Also I would not blame a bulb for burning up your wiring harness lol All of Sylvania's bulbs run between 45 and 65 watts from what I can tell.

yes they come in two versions that are equivalents of 9006 (low beam, HIR 9012) and 9005 (high beam, HIR 9011).

Since when were HIR bulbs brighter than HIDs?

then you have no 9005/9006 bulbs. you must have something like i do (H4) and there is no HIR for that socket, sorry. you would have to go with HID kit for H4-High/Low, otherwise another choice is regular (just brighter) H4 Sylvania or Silverstar bulb.
