factory spoiler wiring

so i just replaced my whole trunk lid with one that had a factory installed spoiler to replace one my dealer installed spoiler that ripped off going 140 .......

so when checking the wiring i saw that the spoiler plugged in to a special pigtail that connected to the same wiring that went in to the trunk, so i figured well my dealer one hooked in like it was because it was dealer option and they didn't have that pigtail instock.

well all put together and now it doesn't work so before i start cutting and splicing the nice neat wiring is there another connector somewhere else i need to connect or switch over?

also my high mount is currently out (if it is needed for continuity?) and there is no host car this was a shelf item that been sitting since 04

edit nope inside high stop fixed, no change, looking over the fsm it list it as having a diffrent harness? basicly said your going to either have the spoiler or your going to have the high mount inside, hummmmm

well yeah the high mount brake light is essentially transferred to the spoiler's light. you can splice from the interior high mount. you should be able to find the correct cover for the rear shelf at a junk yard if you dont want the light there anymore. most people think its looks silly having both

Mines was spliced into a brake wire from the dealer so the high mounted brake light is still operational.

It was a bad splice too, they just stripped the wire back on the harness and just twisted the spoiler wire around it and put electrical tape on it.

I bought mine new in 2000, and the dealer installed the spoiler at the time i got the car. Both the spoiler and the high mount brake light work.

Would it help if I trace the wires down?

mine wasnt that bad of a splice but they used too short of a wire and then joined it to another piece with masking tape.

so i'm just going to run the dealer wire up there ad try to push it ib the back side of the wiring

trunks with facory spoilers had a pigtail run ONLY to the trunk and into the trunk lid along with the
wireing for the reverse lights.. if your car was factory spoilerless youll have to splice and extend into the trunk. its actually pretty easy IIRC, the wiering for high mount is in the back of the tunks anyways.
