Australia Lost keys and immobiliser ??

Hi, First post seeking advice..
Drive and love my 99 Gen 4 V6 Tourer

Lost my only set of keys and remote locking ( transponder) yesterday at beach.. Oh no...

I have the 'unit' out, it is genuine Toyota..
and the ignition lock unit out, for new keys to be 'cut' ??

Question: Can I get a used second hand
'underdash unit' and matching 'device' and just plug it in, good to go .. ??

or..
What alternatives do I have...

I have been told is very expensive to have genuine units replaced

Thanks..

If I was you, I'd grab a friend and a beer , and borrow / buy / rent a metal detector, and search for them at the beach. You may get lucky, find your keys and transponder , or other valuable stuff, get a tan and meet a lady ?

Or you could have had it towed to a dealer where they could cut a new remote key based on the key code, and reflashed your immobiliser and programmed the remote.

just sayin' ... dunno how the cost for that would measure up to the new unit and lock cylinders.

Do everything you can to find those keys, On a car that old if you lose all the master keys you are looking at a new computer and keys.

Wrong. Keys can be programmed to the computer. Although finding the keys if the most cost effective fix.

Your best bet is to search these forums. There's plenty of threads on programming the keys. The trick here is getting a key. The dealer can cut them for you if you provide proof of ownership and the VIN number. The best bet if you have NO keys is to call the dealer and get a new key made.

EDIT: the transponder is usually under the drivers seat.
