3rd & 4th Generation (1992–1996 & 1997–2001)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 1992-1996 & 1997-2001
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
I blew my 1mz-fe and now have a 2mz-fe (2.5L) from japan in my es300.Is there anything to worry about? i use the Tb from my 1mz-fe.. is this engine any good? any performance parts available? is a 5speed swap possible? i used my 1mz-fe auto tranny with a 2mz-fe bell housing.
the only adverse effects i can see is a possible decrease in power (not sure what the performance # of the 2mz are), i would have said electronics would be a bitch but if youve already done the swap and all is well then your ok.
there are performance parts avalible for the 1mz and unles the heads/intake manifold are greatly different i would assume the headers and TRD charger would fit...if you wanted to go that route. other then that there really arent any other engine parts avalible for the 1m or 2m.
you can do a 5 speed swap just like the 1mz, it shoudl bolt right up.
form what i read the specs are almost the same but it is running a higher cr i believe 10.7? seems to have a lower tq number tho.
i guess if the only thing you had to change was the tb to make it all work you should be find and clear to go on the swap you just need to try and find the parts.
but tho i would like to see if it ran a different cam profile
also the 2vz was never a usdm engine so there isn't much information that we know about it.

^ and leaving it that way!
thanks....It's actual has 200hp; little more than my 94-96 1mz-fe. I already switched the intake manifold to my 1mz intake manifold..I do have a check engine light but not sure why..any ideas?

The 5speed es has the 3vz which i don't want and are extremely rare. i already have the 2mz in my es which bolts up to the e153 5speed...The 2mz feels faster than my 1mz but that's probably due to the engines low mileage.I also see an improvement in my gas mileage.
Ye the numbers are around the same and i already did the tb swap. thanks for the help
