1995 Camry 2.2 4Cyl (auto) - Transmission Problems

Quick background; totally got burned on a 95 Camry that I just bought a few weeks ago. My father in law was driving it down to CA and the transmission went out. Now, since I'm no mechanic, I presume it's the transmission, as it doesn't go into gear rather it makes this awful grinding noise in each gear (R, D, 2, etc.).

My question is this; there is a 91 Camry 2.2 4cyl (automatic) with a transmission, can this be used in place of the 95's transmission?

Probably should double-check the donor rig. AFAIK, the '91 Camry used the 2.0L 3S-FE motor. You might be able to swap over if the tranny is a A140E, but I think you'd have an easier time swapping within the same generation (i.e., a '92 to a '95).
