Hard to beat the OEM wires. If you want blue instead of the basic black, the NGK wireset seems to be well thought of. No personal experience with them, 'tho.

The NGK Iridium IX plugs give a lot of bang for the buck (reasonably inexpensive through Amazon), although the platinum-tipped Densos (equivalent to OEM) are perfectly OK too.

While you're there, might as well change out the distributor cap and rotor -- those contacts will degrade over time. Go OEM for those -- the caps on a lot of the aftermarket stuff tends to crack early, and that's a bitch to troubleshoot.

e3's are overpriced snake oil.

BTW, since you're in Indianapolis, Town & Country Toyota (Charlotte, NC) is reasonably close, shipping-wise, and they usually beat the local stealerships by a large margin on OEM parts pricing. Looks like they're running their $4.99 shipping special until the 28th.

It might also be interesting to note that NGK has made a lot of spark plugs for Denso (typical Toyota OEM supplier). However, many times, NGK are the OEM plugs in Toyotas. So in a lot of ways, I wouldn't differentiate NGK from Toyota OEM.

NGK had to provide Denso several variants of the iridium plugs when Denso initially was marketing them, because Denso was having manufacturing problems. And Denso doesn't make all the products they brand - NGK does do some long term manufacturing for Denso.

Just something to be aware of.

That explains it. I personally always figured that Denso sucked.

Yeah, OP should use NGK Iridium-IX and NGK spark plug wires. IMO they're just better.

Use Iridium-IX because it'll give you:

- extreme ignitability
- improved throttle response
- superior anti fouling
- outstanding acceleration
- high fuel efficiency
- durability

Now I didn't say that, NGK did:
