What if they had gearing on a turbo. So from the exhaust turbin to the compressor turbin it had something like a mini transmission. It could have a computer controled Infinitely variable transmission. So even at low RPM's you could get boost, and the boost could be controlled my the computer via the mini transmission and the waste gate. That could further reduce turbo lag, couldn't it? what does everyone think?
i believe this is accomplished with what i think is called squential turboing. a small turbo and a big turbo are used so that then the small turbo runs out of breath the big one takes over. IIRC the supra TT used this.
this would cost A LOT of money to do and considering there are other option that would help achieve the same gpoal i doubt anyone will do it. now i have herd of variable turbos, they some how change the housing size on the flow to turn a "big" turbo into a "small" one.
now I know not to get that lol seems as though simple is better. I also agree with keeping things simple. Look at Lotus. Has a 1.8 L toyota I-4 engine. no power steering, no A/C, no heated seats.....only in America can you get a car that does a million other things in addition to driving, and sometimes it does these "other things" better than driving lol
