4th Generation 98 V6 Camry Airbags

Hell Experts,

I had a frontal collison and the airbags got deployed. The body shop fixed my car but the collision center guy told me that even though he had replaced the airbags they won't work and the airbag warning light will come up. Needless to say the airbag warning light shows on the dashboard and this is disturbing to me.

I called up toyota dealerships and the airbags there are very expensive $800 each for the driver and passenger. Is there a cheaper way to fix the airbags/get new? If so, can anyone pls. forward the link or guide me.

Thanks a lot !

Best Regards,
Dan

I can sell you the ones out of my 97 if you want.

Never deployed and the light has never been on.

Did they pull the codes from the airbag ECU? If they did, what were they? Did they reset the airbag ECU? It's a different procedure from the vehicle's ECU...

Thanks BamZipPow - I know that he replaced the airbags on the steering and the passenger side coz I see them covered. I do not know if he did anything else however like replacing the airbag sensors and airbag computer.

By the way how to check for the codes in the airbag ECU. I know you can plug in somewhere below the steering column to read the engine codes but I don't know where to plug in to the read the airbag ECU codes.

Can you please advise? Thanks once again all of you for your valuable guidance.
