Step by step turbo?. thi

Hey guys, I've been thinking about how I want to run a turbo on my V6, and I thought, maybe I should start with a basic turbo setup and elaborate on it form there.

Idea being to pick up a used turbo from an old Saab/Audi/VW, nothing especially big, and to mount it with a maximum boost of around 3 psi, then as time/money becomes more available, I can get a intercooler, piggyback ecu, and the other goodies that will eventually let me run somewhere close to 12 psi.

Now, the key idea here is that I can pick up a used, decent condition turbo for a few hundred bucks (3-5), and use it for kicks until I've got other supporting mods mounted, and then swap to a nice proper aftermarket turbo.

Keep in mind, I am a relative noob when it comes to turboing (I know how its supposed to work, and what does what, more or less, but that's about it) This isn't anything that's happening right away, also, but rather, something I might do during the summer (Don't want to work too much on the car during the semester)

*edit*

Just realized there was a similar post earlier today

i wouldnt do that. you dont want to just slap on a turbo on with nothing else. you wont be gertting the most out of it and you could very likely damage something because of the way a turbo delivers boost. not to mention youll likely choose a turbo built for a smaller motor and it wount be properly matched to your motor.

no, what you need to do is research and set a goal, save for all the components, puchase them, then install the components for a good turbo setup and not something that you will not like or do correctly.

this will help

I'd recommend you just save up enough money and do it correctly the first time.

why a different manufacter turbo? why not just get a CT-26, supra turbo injectors, a boost controller and start there. 3psi and no intercooler. that by standards is doable cheaply.

That's pretty much what I was thinking. Forgot about the CT26 though lol
that kind of setup *should* come out to under a grand (big expenses will be turbo and B/C). I just wanted the community's thoughts on this. Like I said, not happening until june-abouts, at the soonest
