3rd & 4th Generation (1992–1996 & 1997–2001)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 1992-1996 & 1997-2001
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
Well as some of you know my Camry's crankshaft broke and the crankshaft main bearing split apart too. The engine was garbage and I sold the body off for 750 bucks. I'll miss her dearly.
Unfortunately it looks like I may be crossing over. Yes, Honda. My dealer friend is bidding on this for me. Said it might go for 1,300 bucks. Who wouldn't take a 95 Civic with 71k miles for that money?! It's got a bit of cancer but I don't care much.
I'll drop by from time to time. :p

join the club.
I drive an Acura Legend now.
But I drive my camry half the time, I just can't give her up, she goes & goes, and has a smoother ride, and an even smoother tranny.
I love my Camry.
Best of Luck!

SADLY, SHE HAS MUCH MORE MODS...
Well.... Replacing Camry by Civic..... No way I can do it (as well as replacing by Corolla or something else that small). I would understand Accord, but Civic?

Just when you know damn near everything that can go wrong with a Camry, now you move on? Glad to hear you managed to score $750 on the rig -- I sure wouldn't be able to get that kind of money for a hulk around here.
Gotta agree with Nervous...a Civic is serious step down in size from a Camry. OK for a DD (killer gas mileage), but seems like you had a couple of cross-country trips coming up. Years back, I drove a Corolla from Texas to Idaho...OK for one person, would've been cramped had it been a family trip (and that little motor barely got me over the passes in Wyoming).
I know it's an odd trade off. Part of me wants something big again. I was looking at Maxima's but saw this one and I'm going to try and get it. I never really needed anything big. Mileage is fantastic so I'm excited for that.
As far as the trips go, they're still planned, and I'm still driving! They're both only with 1 person so I figure we can pack it till the doors don't close anymore. The 35mpg on the highway will be a treat compared to what the Camry got.
As for getting 750 bucks, I was surprised to. The car did have brand new tires though and the body was pretty good.
Plus, I only need this car for 5 months until I'm off to school downstate.

couldnt be more true...
but atleast your thinking about mileage, my legend takes premium & gas mileage blows city wise, hwy, its forgivable, but there is not enough hwys in NYC.

Go for it! My first Honda was a 90 accord LX used of course. Wife owns a 01 civic and she loves it. Heck I may go back to Honda if my Highlander keeps iving me these tit for tat issues. Good Luck!
I was going to bid on it but on 2nd look I noticed the odometer reads EXACTLY 71000. That seems a little fishy to me. Copart is usually pretty good about reporting not actual odometer readings, but I don't know about this one.
