1997 V6 Camry P1410,P0446

P0446- Evap charcoal canister, should i be able to just clean this up?
P1410- Egr, should i be able to clean and/or replace sensor?

CE light has been going on and off. esp when i get gas. I never "top off" the thing. usually put 30 bucks in when it goes under 1/4. the 0446 may be my gas cap? it has pressure when i remove it...

Where is the canister and VSV? in the bay I hope.

Thanks, new owner

To my recollection, the P0446 is usually resolved by replacing the Charcoal Canister VSV. In my 2000, it is located under the rear of the car, near the gas tank. Check the manuals at camrystuff.com for that information. If you confirm that it is indeed in that location, there are a couple DIY's here on how to replace that VSV (if you need them).

"P1410 EGR valve position sensor circuit malfunction" ... I didn't know the EGR Valve had a sensor. Maybe someone else can comment on that.

Check www.camrystuff.com, Generation 4, Diagnostics section and search down for P1410 -- there's a nice write-up on testing this sensor. Offhand, I don't know how that one is constructed, but if it's just carboned up, you should be able to clean it.
