4th Generation remove air intake inlet?

Hi everyone. I'm new to posting here, but have been lurking for a long time. This forum has been really helpful.

I had an accident a year or so ago that smashed in the left front of my car. The fender looked pretty awful, but it still ran great, so I didn't get around to fixing it until a couple of days ago. I got a fender from the boneyard that was the same color, and put it on over the weekend. When doing that I noticed that the resonator that sits in the bumper was missing, and that the intake inlet was a bit squished, not so bad that airflow was completely cut off, just a bit squished. I am not planning on replacing the resonator. My question is: I want to remove the inlet and duct tape it to cover the hole that that used to lead to the resonator and also a few little cracks. What is the best way to get it out? If I remove the air filter housing, can I pull it out through there, or am I going to have to pull off the fender and the fender liner to get to it?

Not really sure which part you are mentioning, but if I'm correct,
you're trying to fix the plastic inlet that's facing the bumper towards air..
which leads into the air filter box...

Did it awhile back, memory is kind of rusty, but if you wiggle it off the air filter
box and remove your battery, you should be able to wiggle it out where the battery was placed at...

If required, the air filter box might need to be loosen up by unscrewing the bolts...to disconnect the two..

4th Generation

thanks - that's exactly the part I am talking about. I'm glad to hear that I won't have to remove the fender to get it out. I'll pull out the battery tomorrow and see if I can get it out, and if not, I will unbolt the bottom of the air filter housing. thanks again for your help.
