KNowledge test, '96 1MZ Auto, name the problem

This is my car. When you see the revs go over 1k, thats me on the gas. When you see the RPM's drop, thats me just lightly touching the gas.

Whats the problem?

I know, I just want to see if anyone else can figure it out.

ask gibson, the gen 3 mz never worked right with the a/c and idle air control

when supercharged

now my question p0450 is really because of a sensor that was only present on the 96 es300?

only thing i can think of is that the ecu is not upping the fuel for the added air charge and it is choking out the engine

TPS has a dead band just off idle and sends rouge signal to the ECU?

If that bails - a plugged air bleed in the idle circuit, cuz some chunks were forced down its poor little throat!

Off topic:
Is the top end on that stock, i.e. what compression and how much boost before the w/g kicks in?

I'll blame Toyota next time I get a speeding ticket, lol.

TPS crossed my mind, but no, thats not the issues.

Engine itself 100% stock. TRD SC @6psi.

Well, if it ain't the TPS, how 'bout a sticky MAF flap?

^ Your thinking AFM with the flap, but DING. P0100, MAF or VAF Circuit Malfunction.

Oh, that MAF. Was it just dirt on the hot wire then?

Cleaned it, still the same. Something must have shorted after sitting for 3 weeks. Either that or the Apexi SAFC I have. But pretty sure it;s the MAF itself since the SAFC is pretty new.

to trouble shoot, you can always unhook the safc MAF wires and just connect them together to see

as to chronoti -> the 96 ECU is actually more like the gen4 ecu in that respect, and it electronically raises the idle when the a/c load is on

the problem with the 94/95 ecu was that they use an actual vacuum solenoid tapped off the throttlebody to raise the idle when the a/c is on and even when opened fully, it was very iffy as to if the idle would be high enough to not stall at a stop. But by bumping the base idle a bit on the throttlebody itself, that problem too, can be solved

long story short- 94/95 1mz w/ supercharge + a/c = okay
