Need help (desperately) to disable this annoying thing.
There is no hidden button or switch, as in most cases.
The only thing I can see is a light on my dashboard (left of steering wheel)
labled Toyota Security.
Is this an original, factory installed system?
Any suggestions and comments on how I should go about
disabling it will be greatly appreciated.
(Yes, I checked with the local Toyota dealer; didn't know).
Its disabled from factory, atleast mine was til i found the toggle switch. I believe its just a crime deterrent. You could also remove the bulb from the dash if it bothers you that much.
Yeah, its right on the left of the steering wheel, if your car doesnt have it, it just has a black "filler".

That light is barely visible, not a problem.
But all that honking and not being able to normally start the engine, are.
do you have a keyless entry remote? What are you doing to set the alarm off?
Iv personally never seen one but its been mentioned the security system module box is under the drivers seat.
No, no remotes with this car.
Also, I couldn't see any box under my seat.
But I'll take another look and report back.
Did that photo tell you anything?
Thanks for trying to help!

Sorry Iv never seen one of those before so I can't say much. I does remind me of what was in my wife's POS Altima.
My recommendation would be to buy a $30 Valet or Viper keyless entry system. When your only doing keyless entry, the installation isn't bad at all and should be able to disarm your alarm without any problems. The module has a wire you tie into factory alarm disarm wire (Red/Green (-) Driver's Kick Panel White 24 Pin Connector) which sends a ground pulse that disarms the system whenever you press the unlock button on the remote.

You were right, I found that box under the seat.
Says on it:
V.I.P. Toyota Security System
Product # 237000 - 1340
I googled it, only RS 3200 models are being mentioned.
They all are remotely controlled and can be programmed that way.
Mine never had a remote transmitter (I just checked that with the original owner).
If so, how can a non-remote system be programmed (disabled) ?
yeah my car wouldnt stop honking at 1:00am in my buddies backyard, so i got a ride home and found my black key, so all i did was reconnect my battery and put the key to on and it turned the alarm off, but down under the dash, where your left foot is located is a plastic corner panel. That is where i found this toggle switch.

I checked everywhere. In my case, there is no switch.
