93 Driver side axle replacement

Hi,
I have removed the old beat up driveshaft and I am having a hell of a time getting the new one seated in the transmission. Any tips on how to do this? It's the type witht he circlip on the end of the shaft......the old old one was tough to get out. Thanks in advance for any input.

isnt there a notch or a groove somwhere on the shaft to place a chisel so you can hammer it in? its been a while, so i cant remember off hand. i believe you first have to line up the splines, hold it there, then use a hammer and chisel to get it to slide it. once it compresses the "c" clip and starts to slide in, youre home free.

not recommended but it all else fails, try to hold the axle somewhat straight then screw the nut on the end(hub side) just enough so you can give it a good whack or 2 with the old 4 pound hammer without damaging the threads.

ive found it gives you even pressure from the center rather than from one side. also the clips open end should be pointing up...or down..lol
