1999 Camyr Amplifier

Where is the Amp on a 1999 Camry? It is not under the seats, behind the glove box or in the trunk. Is there an easy way to bypass it? My rear speakers get power but no sound.

how does the connector look on the back of the headunit?

If its a rectangular 2 part connector you have no amp.

If it two square connector on each side of the head unit you do have one.

Also if you dont have a CD slot on your stock player there is no amp.

Called the dealer and gave them the VIN#. They told me there was one. It is a Fujitsu with cd and cassette.

It's behind the glove box, under the airbag.

It's hard to see.

If you remove the radio, follow the wiring harness and you can touch it, but you probably can't see it or remove it. You can just bypass it, though.

Just get an aftermarket stereo harness, and wire it up color to color.

wouldn't that still send it all though the amp? How do I bypass it. I can't get to the wires coming out of it.

Ok. If you remove the radio, you'll see some harnesses. Follow that and find another connector that should be on the amp itself.

Unplug it, plug your new harness in, and wire it up!

Standard audio system does not have an outboard amp. Amp for premium system is behind glovebox as mentioned.
