Hi, After my car warms up the idle speed goes up to 2000 rpm. The car was working before I parked it for 5 months. Once I reconnected the battery this problem started Any ideas?

See DIY: Cleaning the Throttlebody (5S-FE - other engines similar)

While you're in there, make sure the throttle plate is staying fully closed at idle.

If that doesn't help, I'd check the Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) sensor to see if it's reading too "cold", especially if you seem to be running rich.

Also, it doesn't take much of a vacuum leak to give you high idle -- take a look for cracked or loose vacuum hoses, listen for any hissing noises.

BTW, what engine? Hard to get too specific without knowing that.

Hi Thanks for all the info its a 2.2L 5SFE engine. Where is the ECT sensor? Is it a resistance check? As I said before the car was running fine until it sat for about 5 months or so. I already tried cleaning the throttle body once did not have any effect.

It should be on a water port coming out of the right (passenger side) of the cylinder head of the engine, as you are standing in front of the car. It's under a green plastic connector. Yes, it is a resistance check. You will need the specs from any manual and a digital volt/ohmeter. If you don't have a manual, there are Toyota factory service manuals stickied at the top of the Camry forum, over at AutomotiveForums.com.
