3rd Generation O/D Question/Problem?

Well ok,

So after yesterday i had time to hook up the o/d button as previous owner put a different shifter on the automatic shifter. upon not hooking up the OD cable.

So now,

I took a part my shifter box found the cord,
now
But now im confused.

So when u connect the two wires, i get OD off on the dash.

So then ok I hook it all up to a switch to the Off postition,
So when i turn the switch off, the OD off light comes on.
I was thinking it was right till this morning.

I decide id see if i was right.

so
when i flip the switch OFF n im just driving. RPM Seems same when im idling.
1) OD off light comes on
2) RPM Go up to like 2k

When i Flip it to the ON position
1) The OD off Light goes away
2) RPM Drops to 1.2k

So i was thinking well i dont know if that rights,
would someone explain please?

or is there something im missing cause no light turn on when i flip it to on position.

Pictures are tooken while i was just sitting still.
But look at lights on dash.

Help would be great to explain this please.

Something ain't right about your switch. Here's how it's supposed to work:

One wire (white-with-black-stripe) is ground. The other wire (green-with-orange-stripe) goes to the ECU, the O/D OFF light, etc. When you connect the two wires, you're grounding one side of the O/D OFF light, and signaling the ECU that O/D is off. RPMs should be higher at higher speeds (~45mph) because O/D is off.

If you have a multimeter, check the switch -- I predict what is marked "ON" is no connection between the terminals, and what is marked "OFF" has a connection.

OK so when OD is on should giving it lower RPM right?
n No dash light should be on?

But when OD is off
A Dash light is on, and High RPMS?

I can switch the connection the Switch so , when the switch is on, the OD Off light comes on.

I know the switch is working cause when i turn it on or off, i can see it Raise n Lower RPMS

I guess maybe i was confused on how OD work.

I put a different shifter in my car too. I learned that in these cars the stock O/D switch is normally open(off). pressing the button closes the switch(on) and shuts off the O/D. It's counter intuitive, I know, but that's how it is.

O/D on gives you better MPG, not worse. If you're only getting 18mpg with O/D on, you've got other issues. Maybe a heavy right foot?
