How many K miles can an engine go without a rebuilt?
This is just a general question out of curiosity. If you take care of your engine well and do all the neccesary maintanence, how long would the engine last for before it'll need an overhaul? I know it also depend on the driving conditions and all but anyone know any record?
Good question. The 5S-FE holds up pretty well. I tend to see people on here rebuild them around 300k...sometimes more.

im at 173k and still chugging. hate to say it but im not even doing all of the required maintenance. im still running plugs, wires, distributor rotor, spark plugs from when i bought the car used with 96k miles. who knows when they were last changed if ever. i do keep up with all of the fluid and belt changes!
my buddy sold his with 302k miles and never touched his since his dad bought it new.
There's a thread here already about how many miles people have on their Camry's.
I see the numbers vary from 80 to a bit over 200k miles.
I personally have about 347,000 miles on my 2000 i4. I plan on getting a compression test done soon to see where it's at in that regard.
The car was probably taken care of up to 70,000 miles by the original owners, then neglected be myself until maybe 330,000.
What you mean by neglect? cause that's is alot of miles. Can you tell what your maintenance schedule is like? Personally, my car have 181K and it's still smooth, I got it from my aunt at 165K and I don't think she did much beside changing oil (sometimes at 6-7K on mineral oil). She did the timing belt and I believe the ATF. Thinks that's it. I've changed the air filter, fuel filter, pcv valve (for the first time), flush the coolant (for the first time), spark plug, and wires. Most of the miles on the car are highway miles though so that's good. Hopefully I can get to 250K.
