1998 Camry V6 exhaust manifold studs

Ok, so anyone here ever strip a stud from the manifold to the catalytic converter pipe? Just wondering the best way to replace it, grind it and drill it out, just clean the threads or go with a bigger thread. I have a couple of the studs (torx headed little bastards). many thanks

I snapped one off completely. They don't drill out too well. I gave up and just left it alone. It was a little noisier, but other than that it didn't throw codes or smell bad.

I would just leave it as it is, if I were you. Save your knuckles!

are you referring to the header to y-pipe exhaust stud?

which one did you strip? one in the front or the back?

and I would drill it out and replace it with a new one- maybe slightly bigger thread...you don't want to replace it with a regular bolt

yes from the Y pipe, one of the studs on the rear exhaust/manifold. not sure if I can grab a few threads on it which are left and wondering if it is worth grinding off, drilling out and cleaning up the threads. seems the studs are a loft softer than the nuts that are on them not sure what they are made of. otherwise someone else suggested threading the remaining stripped stud with a smaller thread , get a new nut on there and go with it.
