When installing 6x9 's what goes between the speaker and the car body?

Should I just get some insulation type foam and put it between the new 6x9 speakers and the body. I drilled five new holes to get the four holes needed for the new speakers, but thought better than installing them without some sort of gasket/rubber/foam type material between the speaker and the car body. What has been used and works well??

I installed new rear 6x9s and used NO insulation and that was absolutely fine. If you want, you can use some cheapy foam. The12Volt.com may give you some ideas.

edit: dynamat is also a VERY good solution.

I used spray foam then shaved it out inside the hole, and flat on top with a large thin serrated kitchen knife. It worked out very well. I also used long thin bolts + nuts instead of screws, as they hold better.

I've never used any kind of insulation. As long as you tighten them properly, you're fine!

I used silicon caulk. Works well, I just hope I don't have to swap them out anytime soon...

That's exactly why I never use any sealant on them, if you have to take them out, good luck haha.

Yeah, the decision to do that was a little rash; I just wanted them in. Probably should have waited to make brackets. Maybe by the time the speakers give out, I'll have sold it and someone else can curse my handywork.
