Speedo help!!!!

So I'm driving to my friends house and I look at my speed and it drops from 50 to 0 and thn back to 50 and now it just keeps going up and down all crazy!? I havent messed with my car in months so this is really random. Anyone have a clue what it could be? Should I just get a new cluster from junkyard or what?

Edit. So now my transmission is acting really funny and my speedo will sit at 0 and I don't have a clue WTF is going on with my baby right now...

It only has 115k, sometimes it will shift kinda hard and sometimes it won't shift or will take too long to shift and my speedometer sits at 0 now.

I'd recommend getting a scangaugeII or other OBDII reading device to check and see if the ECU is getting a reading from the speed sensor... but you have a 95 5S with was OBDI if i remember correctly.

I'm thinking either the speed sensor (which is on the tranny I believe) or a problem with the cluster. As far as testing for what the problem is.... I'm stumped. Have you tried searching for previous threads?

I did a quick search for OBDI diagnostics... but didn't find anything. I don't know if they make a scanner for OBDI cars or not. Usually it's just jumping pins with paper clips and counting light flashes whereas OBDII... well here: http://www.obdii.com/ Sorry I can't be of any more assistance.
