Is there a noticeable difference between 215/50 and 225/45 tires? Like less flex and body roll from one size over the other, or is it just personal preference?

its mostly preference- and IMO, the difference in the width of 215 vs 225 isn't noticeable at all UNLESS you're trying to stretch them.. but that's a whole other topic. and the difference between the sidewall of 45 and 50 will be the manufacturer, the dunlop's fm901's 215/50 is almost similar to falken's st115 215/45..

215/45 has about 3.8" of side wall between the wheel and road at all times.
