Gen5 2000 Camry LE "keyless entry?"

Hi Toyota Camry owners/enthusiasts, I've got a question for you.

I just recently bought a 2000 Camry LE from a dealership here in Canada, a couple days ago.

Reading through the owner's manual, I noticed that the book tells me my Camry "has a wireless remote control system that can lock/unlock doors... etc", Yet the Car did not come with a remote, Nor did the dealership specify if the car even has this feature; I was under the impression it didn't from the beginning.
So I'm curious, Do all Camrys have this feature?
How can I find out if mine does or not? Is there a way to find out without having to take it somewhere and spend money?

And, if I buy a 2000 Camry remote off the net, How would I even program it??

Thanks for your time;
-Cal from Calgary, Canada

try looking for alarm ECU, in my 2000 camry solara se i4 i found it under center arm rest. on camry i think it is located behind the driver knee panel (correct me if wrong) or behind the central dash (someone else having more exp with camry may be more helpful).
it's a grey square box that says Fujitsu Ten Corp RS3000 VIP. if you find it then all you need is a remote from ebay.
programming of keyless entry fobs requires access to alarm ECU (pressing green button to activate learning mode), even used keyless fobs from ebay come with programming instructions.

just be careful as there are 2 different alarms for this model, one wa installed by factory and uses black remotes, while other (most popular) were installed by Port/Dealer and they use grey 2-button remotes.

not sure if all camry trims of that year came with keyless entry as standard.

by the way, 2000 camry is gen4. gen5 started in 2002 (non-japanese market).

this is RS3000 general user manual (including programming instructions) and installation instruction unfortunately for '98 Highlander so components location is different for camry.

There should be a little red LED poking through the dash, behind the turn signal stalk. If you don't have one, you don't have the alarm.

I have keyless entry and don't have this.

Tell you what, go to www.programyourremote.com follow the programing instructions for the camry

See if you get the cycling of the locks in step 5.

I followed these instructions when I got the new fob for my car.

LOL, I have both the LED thing and ECU and my car did NOT get cycling of locks when I was following those instructions a year ago

Point is (i think) the locks will cycle if you have keyless entry but have no alarm ECU (which would control keyless entry instead if was there).
