97 Camry, splicing wires from non-heated mirror to heated mirror

Hey,

Did a few searches, but couldn't turn much up, or the wire colours didn't match mine.

Anyway, I've got a 1997 Camry, and need to replace the passenger side mirror. When I purchased a new mirror, what I got was a three wire non-heated mirror, and the original is a five wire heated. I need to splice the new mirror's three wires to the corresponding connector from the old mirror, and need to know which wires are which.

What I've got is as follows:

Old Mirror (square connector, five pins arranged as follows)

1_2
345

1 & 2 are black
3 Yellow
4 Purple
5 Blue

New Mirror (flat connector, three pins arranged as follows)

123

1 Yellow
2 Black
3 Green

I'm assuming that the heated mirror has one wire for the heater and one wire for heater ground. I just need to know which ground is which, and which two wires control the vertical and horizontal movement of the mirror, so that I can splice them accordingly.

Thanks,

Brad

A quick back to top - I looked through a few more wiring diagrams, and couldn't discern which wires powered which motors/heater/ground. Help?

Thanks,

Brad

Try using a test light. That will tell you the motor and power, and knowing those two will tell you which is ground.

Bump for a update on this?

I bought an aftermarket one (TY) from Eagle Motor Japan (Missisauga) for a 98 Camry.

Use a multimeter and you can figure out which wire does what.

Did anyone ever figure this out? I've just installed a mirror on my 97 Camry and have the exact same issue as the OP.
