Fresh Air Intake Location

Hi Guys,

Does anyone know where the fresh air intake is on a 2000 Camry? I assumed that it was under the windshield cowl somewhere but I can't see any openings.

I've had the blower down 3 times since I bought this car in December 2009.

1st time was a few leaves and pine needles along with some muck built up on the squirrel cage.

2nd time was a mouse that went for a ride on the squirrel cage.

3rd time will probably be this weekend for whatever.

Thanks for any input,

Jay in MA

Do you mean where is the air taken from that the HVAC blower used? If so, it should be in the passenger side of the firewall, under where the windshiel wiper is (under the plastic piece).

Thanks ASG....that's the vent I was referring to. I'm looking for an opening that a mouse could get through. I'll look more closely in that area.

Has anyone else had a mouse visit that high speed ferris wheel?

Thanks again,
Jay in MA

I've seen all kinds of things end up in the blowers, lol. Last year my dealer pulled out a cabin air filter (newer car) and there were around 5 dead baby mice in it!

You have to pull off the plastic pieces to get to the air inlet BTW. I think you also have to take the wipers themselves off. Keep note to yourself the placement of the wipers on the windshield.

Thanks again ASG. I hope to install some sort of pre-screen to keep them out of the blower.

When that mouse stepped into the blower I thought I was driving over a rumble strip. The whole dashboard vibrated HARD!

I used to work at a GM dealer a few years ago. A woman reported of a foul smell inside her H2 all the time, but particularly whenever the blower was on. After dash removal, there was a dead possum inside. Nice...
