3rd Generation 1995 2.2 Oil seal on camshaft

1995 Camry 2.2 . Do you have to remove the camshaft to replace the camshaft oil seal? Or can you replace the seal just by removing the timing belt gear on the cam/

You don't have to pull the camshaft...just the gear. See DIY: Timing Belt + Water Pump + Oil Seal Change - 5S-FE (Part 1) ...down towards the bottom of the description of the procedure.

The trick is not to score the cam surface where the seal sits. I bought a special tool that slips in under the lip but does not damage the cam.
