2000 Toyota Camry V6 Starter Issue

I have a 2000 Toyota Camry V6 with 112k. A few months ago I started it and heard a terrible grinding, whearing sound. Shut it off started again with same sound. Revved the engine and it stopped. Sounded like a sticky silenoid. Now on occasion when I try and start it I turn the key and its like the silenoid will not engage. It clicks once but does not start as if the battery was low on juice. I turn the key to the off position and it starts. I did replaced the battery two months ago. To me it seems like a defective silenoid. Any thoughts on this. Thanks

I would do some tests first before making any decision. If you search through the forum you'll find a lot of info about testing and repairing starters. For example, this post might be useful for you:

Sounds identical to what I went through. I'm fortunate to have pretty good electric motor repair guy in my area. Fixed it for $20 with me pulling unit out and putting it back in. Can't tell you what he fixed, but you might find it's not that expensive in your area either.

Nervous, good info. Have bookmarked your posts.
