Lightbulb Hoodliner...

When my wife's 2001 Camry radiator top tank blew up, it took out the factory hoodliner by shrinking the outer shell. Needless to say the Toyota one (Japan made Camry) is well over $200 plus some ridiculous oversized shipping fee.

I did find this company making custom hoodliners via a web search. I'm thinking about sending in a pattern fer the Camry and my T-100.

...or I could just git the material and make my own pattern.

I would try a salvage yard. You should be able to find one in pretty good shape.

I have found that in taking the original factory hoodliner off...it has a tendency to disintegrate.

That custom guy doesn't list a price, but you should get one with a big ass GT logo on it! haha.

Are the hoodliners really that important?

He listed the prices at the bottom... Are they really that important? Well...they keep the heat off of yer hood...keeps the paint from fading as fast. Can keep the noise down...if yer engine is rather rattling.

I know he also has them on eBay and the prices seemed to be lower on there, too. Go figure.

Mine has a hood liner and I like the fact that the hood doesn't go hot. You don't have to buy a custom fit hood liner. You can just use an aluminized foam that you use as an insulation and retrofit it on your hood.

My paint hasn't faded at all.

I think it's not needed, arguable sound reduction.

& plus my Camry really gets the cool steam effect when it rains.
God I love my Camry, legend has a hood liner, & she still has a steam effect, just not as sexy.

I found a place that carries the same stuff he uses. I'd post it here but from the comments generated here...it's not wanted.

Since you asked... http://shop3.mailordercentral.com/su...ts.asp?dept=17

It's the ¼" thick stuff. You'll need to measure what you need. The price is per foot of 48" wide material. I think you'll need around 4-5' worth.

Cheaper here... http://www.wicksaircraft.com/catalog...350/index.html

I'll have to make a point of measuring the old hoodliner and maybe post up a few piccies of it.
