Im looking for a manual transmission for my car. Its a 94 V6 XLE. I just got back to it after i returned my Cobalt SS (didn't like joining the crowd). any ideas where I should look?
I have never, NEVER seen a manual camry in a junkyard. Actually, my camry is the only manual camry I've ever seen anywhere in person.
Your best bet will be calling places like Jasper and Marshall. Damn, I was on this site earlier today that had the manual, but I can't remember what it was....
Does your 94 Camry V6 XLE already have a manual tranny, and you just want to replace it? Or do you have an automatic now, and you want to convert over to a manual? I couldn't tell an answer to this from previous posts.
On Celicas of this vintage, there were specific ECMs, depending upon if the vehicle had a manual or an automatic. And specific engine wiring harnesses. If you haven't already sorted through all that (you probably did, given you are preparing to put in new floor pedals, the correct half-shafts, etc.), you might have to grab all of that stuff from the donor vehicle. I just don't know enough about Camry's, but for Celicas, you have to deal with all of this stuff.
+1 for eBay, but they're only there every once in a while (there's tons of 4cyl manual trannys though) - and if you do go that route make sure you get a warranty since a lot of those are just junkyard pulls.
I remember Gabe (trd4life) had a thread where he was selling some, not sure whether he still has them or not. I was considering getting a new trans since mine has a noisy bearing (previous owner wasn't super friendly to it), but decided to get it repaired instead. Here's the link.
