1998 Camry XLE V6

Hey Everyone,

Today, my 1998 Camry XLE V6 had trouble accelerating/sputtering and the check-engine light came on. Autozone checked it out and told me that my "error code" is for cylinder firing issues and that new spark plugs should fix the problems (I know my current plugs are old and I don't know the condition of my wires)

Also, I noticed a small leak near the front of my car as well. Could these issues be related? (I just had a new Power Steering Rack installed last month due to a massive crack and big leak from it)

I bought NGK BKR6EGP spark plugs, but I cannot figure out where the plugs are located on this engine or how to install them. Any advice for fixing this issue and maintaining my XLE V6 with 121K miles is greatly appreciated!

Thanks so much in advance for the help!!

There is a post on this very section of the Forum about how to change the plugs on the 1mz-fe engine, i believe yours has that engine. As for the leak, any idea as to where the fluid is coming from or what the substance is?

Welcome, I am also from Arizona... great place to be right now haha.

I just saw those instructions and it looks like my engine, indeed. I was going to have my handy (non-mechanic) friend help me change out the plugs, but it looks pretty complex. Do you think a local toyota dealership would charge much to take care of this?

As for the leak, I will have to check it out tomorrow.

Thanks!
