Equalizer Wiring

Hey guys

Since I've got some downtime waiting for the transmission, I decided to wire up my equalizer. I've run into a few problems. I wired it up how I thought it should go, I get power to it and the graphic part lights up. But no sound.

Anyway. Here's pictures of the setup. Let me know if you know how they actually get wired up!

The Left and Right RCA from the headunit go to the L & R input on the eq, then you run the outputs of the eq to your amps, it cant be used without external amplifiers or a lot more wiring(as far as i know)

Here's my old eq

So I do need an amp. Ok. That's the next thing I was wondering. So then the equalizer would only power the subs?

The eq doesnt actually power anything, it just alters the signals appropriately. You'd need an amp for the sub as well.

Sorry, what I meant to say was that it will only change the subs if it only hooks into the amp?

Basically what I thought I was doing was hooking it up to all the speakers and changing the signal to all of them, as there is speaker outputs in the form of the RCA connectors. There are also separate sub outputs, also RCA connectors.

I dont think you can power the speakers off the rcas from the back of the eq if thats what you are saying, I would suggest a 4 channel amp and an amp for the sub. If you only hook the eq up to the sub amp then it'll only affect the sub. Maybe your eq is a bit different from mine, what brand and model is it? Mine only had rca's in, remote wire in (to turn it on) and a power + ground leads.

It looks more like your eq will basically line convert all your high level speaker inputs but it wont output that power, basic point is i think it looks like you have to use an amp for everything.

I've actually got a regular speaker amp, I think! I might try that then! BUT. It doesn't have the RCA connectors for input...just speaker wire inputs. Will that still work? To go from the RCA output to the speaker input?

And on the back of the EQ I've got those six pictured RCA inputs, and then a bundle of wires with high input left front, right front, left rear, right rear, remote, ground, power, and a few other.
