Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
what parts are required to be changed for a tune up, I already got the fuel filter and air filter changed, but for the engine its apparantly only the spark plugs(i have a v6)? as there is no wires or anything (is what the parts shop told me).
yes! there wires! unless you have a 94 then you have no wires, that year was cop. get good plugs because of the waste spark ignition system fires the plugs twice a revolution, also because of the wsi you need good plugs get ngk or denso, and it is only 3 wires and yes it is like 40 for just 3 wires

that depends on when the last tune up was, what was done at last tuneup and how many miles are on the car.
last time I did "tune up" was last august, when I got the spark plugs, air filter, and fuel filter changed.....thats all. gonna have to redo the "tune up" because of engine checklight showing misfire in cylinder 1,3, and5. i got 127 miles on it, last august it was 118miles. also I did seafoam about a month ago....

can you give me a link for those wires (any parts store), because the local autovalue parts told me the only thing I could change are spark plugs and boot, but boots apparently almost never break. even ngk doesn't carry any wires =/
if your having miss fires on a whole bank then it is likely bad ignition coils (fuzzy on how many the 95/6 has, i think its one for each bank).
before replacing the wires, check the contacts and see if they are corroded. if not then you dont need to replace them. they rarely are the casue of a miss fire.
94 had 6
95-01(?) had 3
vvti(gen 5) had 6
3mz had 6
thanks man, but which brand would you guys prefer I get? also would iridium ngk spark plug give better fuel economy compared to the normal ngk plugs? and I don't need to change the boots right, just the wires.

wait are the bad ignition coils the boot? or something else?
they have the boots on clearance right now, i say ngk or denso for the plugs
dual ground platinum all you need, at about 100k on the stock plugs i was getting some gap from the ground wearing out and the area behind the platinum, but you will not see any better gas mileage just longer plug life, if anything copper ground is the best but will have a real short life in our engines

hey guys,
I need to get the ignition coil, ya there is no such thing as wires for gen 3.5, so rock auto has them from $85 to $110, and all of them say 6 required per vehicle, now the question is are each one $85 or all 6 of them?
