passenger door will not open

the keys were locked in my wifes 1997 camry, some guy decided he could get it open with a slim jim, he tried and tried only long enough to pull one of the clips off inside. A long time it would open from the inside and not the outside, but that has all changed. Now it wont open at all, I can not get the door open to get the panel off, so I dont even have a starting point.I pulled the panel from inside the most I could but could not reach any thing or see anything that would seem to help me..QUESTION: How can I get this door open just to see what is going on?? So I can get the panel off... THANKS

You could try to remove the bezel around the inside door handle. Once you do that, you can use pliers to move the rod that connects to the door lock.

That's a gen 3 DIY; the OP has a gen4. It may be similar though. Do try messing with the rods below in the picture if you can get access to them. One locks/unlocks the door and the other opens it. http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m...nt/Step15b.jpg

Great, but the linkage is loose beyond the the bezel towards the latch. the bezel is moving the rod all the way through for ma what I can see there must be a clip there tath is broken. But once again I cant grt the panel out far enough to see or do anything... I dont even know how to go about or what linkage to even to try for ( as if it would matter) I cant see anythin in the door ANY TAKERS?? HOW WOULD I GET MY PANEL OFF WITH A CLOSED DOOR?? OR>> HOW WOULD I GET MY DOOR OPEN???HMMMMMMM

I dont think it is possible to get the pannle off without the door open. Are you able to see the linkage rods? If you are perhaps you can take some pliers and push the lock open

You MUST use the linkages to get the door open. You just gotta get in there and mess with them. That's the only way. IF you have to destroy your door panel to get to them, then thats how you'll have to do it. You can find replacement panels in the junk yard.
