I need to purchase to purchase a front motor mount torque strut for my '98 V6. Can anyone recommend an online parts dealer, or somewhere I should buy one? I don't know if a dealer would have one on hand. Mine is in bad shape and I need to swap it out ASAP.
do you mean an engine moving rod mount ? or so called dog bone on 4-cylinder engines ?
try going to www.toyotapartszone.com and locate your part using diagrams and descriptions and write down the OEM part number. www.toyodiy.com may be helpful too however no diagrams anymore over there.
then visit toyota online dealers who sell parts at discounted prices (above included).
Ya, I need the engine moving rod mount. It's the mount in the front of the engine on the top with a circular deal on each end. I will check out those websites for the OEM.
IME, if the dogbone is trashed, that means the front mount is hosed. You can replace the dogbone, but unless you replace that front mount, the new dogbone will be trashed in a year.

I picked up a dog bone at a dealer today, so now I am off to search for a front mount. Is it just called a "Front Motor Mount"? About how much should it cost and how hard is it to install? When I search for " Camry front motor strut mount" I'm getting results for just the "dog bone" shaped piece. Thanks again.
Would someone please look at the parts diagram from toyotapartszone and tell me what parts I need
I hope this is all I need for now to keep my Camry running well for a while.
Recently I've had the steering rack replaced, new spark plugs and wires, new intake manifold gasket and now this dog bone and front engine mount to come next. It's a great car and I don't feel like I'm throwing my money away since it runs so well.
look for "front engine insulator", look for your part number here: www.toyodiy.com by VIN and then to part numbers
for best effect you should as well replace the rear engine insulator and transmission mount to make the procedure complete
i know it gets pricey, but it's worth it!

There is also the 12307 shock absorber mount for the transmission. And the commonly called "transmission mount" #12372A. On later engines, both of these are combined into a large one like the front mount so you have 3 of this cylinder type.

My final questions are: Do I really need both of these parts? And how long should it take my experienced mechanic to install them? I hate to keep throwing money at this car, but I treat it as an investment
I'd do the front one first. It tends to be in worse shape. About 30 minutes of your mechanic's time. Most of it removing the lower splash shield.
Just do a visual on the rear first. See if you (actually your mechanic) can see any crack in the rubber. If so, even 1/8" I'd change it.

Thanks for the above^. Buying these three recommended parts doesn't seem too bad price-wise if it keeps my Camry going strong with the tune-up I've already had done: TOTAL PARTS COST about $222.00 plus labor of ??? hours:
So, with a new power steering steering rack, new plugs and wires, new manifold intake gasket, new oil drain gasket, new "dog bone" AND these 3mounting items, is there anything else that I should look at "tuning up" so that I don't have a costly repair pounce at me?? I changed my timing belt and water pump at 79 K and currently have 122K. The reason why I am hanging on to my '98 is because I still think these tune-up costs are cheaper than buying a different car. Breaks and all interior electrical items seem to be in great shape. THANKS!
local shops shouldn't charge more than around $50 per mount replacement (that's what i paid for all 3 in bottom). it's easy for them, they use lifts and those mega-long "support stands".
are getting those prices of parts from online dealer or local dealer ?

Cool site. The prices I quoted were from toyotapartszone.com. My mechanic also knows some great suppliers I hope to get a good deal on them.
How many miles has anyone been able to get out of their V6 Camry similar to my 1998 XLE? Can these things run 250K without major costs? It would be great to get that out of mine, since I am doing this work at 122K
