Hey, I have a 1992 le, and I just finished my paint job on the back (looking now like Jeff's where all that's left of the middle is two reverse lights, the rest is painted) and my side skirts and I wondering what's a real cheap way of removing the emblems on the back without having the two holes from them. I know shaving is the way to go, but do any of you have any good home remedies to get rid of the holes that the emblems leave in the body of the car? Thanks!

i dont think theres really any way of avoiding the holes if you remove the emblems..... the only way to get rid of them is to fill them in once you take off the emblem....

here's my '92 Camry LE before the new paint went on. there's holes behind all emblems. you'll have to fill them in (figerglass, filler) and repaint the trunk.

How much should I expect to pay when having those holes filled? Do you thik it could be done at home with some bondo and still look nice?

No. Even I wouldn't do that and trust me, I'll bondo and paint anything.

i wouldn't do it either... and i've had a little experience with fiberglass and bondo from building speaker pods ~ it's not pretty. with an exterior panel it would take tons of sanding to get it perfect, then you'd have to primer/paint/clearcoat the trunk. any imperfections would clearly show up in light relections. i'd rather spend the money and get it done right.

I tried to do the job with some Bondo and spray paint and it looked horrible. I just shoved the emblems back in until I have the dough to do it the "right way."

i would say between $2-300 U.S. to ge it done. it all depens on who does it for you. ask to have it soldered or welded. if you have bondo after closng your trunk for a while it can loosen up and fall out.
