3rd & 4th Generation (1992–1996 & 1997–2001)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 1992-1996 & 1997-2001
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
That's my problem I can't find anyone that really knows if they are interchangeable. I called Toyota and the girl there checked and said that the clocks for the 2001 LE had a temp. mode feature. Mine has been out for three years and I don't remember if it did or not. Someone said that it would have an extra connector if it had the temp. mode. That is the problem I don't know which one I really need.

My 2000 camry LE has a working clock and it has the temp mode.

My 2001 LE has the temperature mode, so yours will as well.
If you want one without the temp, I've still got one available. I'll even include the connectors and wires so you can splice it in if they have different connectors.
I believe the reason one clock will have a "mode" button for temperature while another one does not is because some have manual temperature controls while others have electronic controls. The fancier electronic A/C units will have a temperature readout, so there was no need to put one into the clock.
I pulled a clock from a 2000 v6 XLE model that does not have a mode button, and it had an electronic A/C unit. My 2000 i4 LE has manual controls for A/C, so I have a mode button on mine.
The one without a mode button will have something like five or six wires going to it. The one with a mode button will have a few more.
Go to http://www.toyotapartszone.com/, "Add a Vehicle" and enter your VIN. Find the part number for the clock and post it here. I can let you know if the extra one I have matches.

I emailed Toyota and their answer wa that all 2001 Camrys had the same clock which is a little confusing. My A/C did not have automsatic controls only manual.

That's a little strange. I'm sure electronic A/C units were available for 2001 models... in which case the clock would likely not have a mode button.
Oh well. In any case, did you look up the part number? PM me your VIN if you'd like and I'll look it up for you.
