Car Stereo suggestions

I am interested in purchasing a car stereo for my 96 carmy. The camry has the 6disc changer, so it has the double sized thing. For those of you who have replaced this, which brands would you recommend... JVC has a good Ipod interface and it worked well in my last car.

The stereo i am interested in right now, is the JVC KD-r610? any recommendations?

It really comes down to personal preference. I just bought one of the cheapest ones I could find at Best Buy. It works great!

You can do a double DIN sized head unit if you want to, but you don't have to. With a single DIN unit, the space below can be filled in with a panel with a pocket in it; good place to toss a pair of sunglasses or what-not. They can be purchased at Crutchfield.com (probably other places too). If you buy the head unit from Crutchfield they include it for free... they used to anyway, it's been a while since I've purchased from them.

I bought a Panasonic double din and the oem mounting brackets fit the stereo and lined up with the screw holes on the stereo. So its in there nice and solid but it does stick out a little less than 1/8".

I bought an Pioneer Head Unit used off a member on TN. I didn't feel like buying a new unit, but rather a good condition, used one with a ton of features. I installed it & it's been in the camry a year with out an issue. Single DIN, nice display, iPod interface. My first time with Pioneer & I am pretty happy. Go with a decent brand, single DIN, you'll have a pocket to put your iPod in now!
