3rd & 4th Generation (1992–1996 & 1997–2001)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 1992-1996 & 1997-2001
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
you could but it would be major body work you would have to get major front end work done because the 2jz is an inline six its wideeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
an wouldn't just drop in you would have to get rear wheel drive which means custom chassis work your gonna have to extend the car not to mention the transmission its very possible but would cost a shit load of money mainly for all the labor that the body shops would be chargin the 2jz is fuckkin boss engine though you would be one of the only guys on earth to have one in a camry
A RWD 2JZ camry wouldn't be boss.. It'd be straight-up retarded. 280-odd hp to rear wheels, if not more, in what most people think of as a 20-second car...
Someone do this (and post pics/vids)!!!

Need performance parts?
Shoot me a PM, I'll see what I can do
It;s been done, but it's a sleeper and the guy has NEVER popped the hood in public. No, I do not have pics. And I have friends that WOULD do this with me if I had the money.
Hell, I had a friend pop a V8 crate motor into a Civic for a customer at the shop he worked at. He also put a Nissan 3.2L V6 into a freaking 7th Gen Corolla for someone. It;s called money. Have it, it gets done. There are a lot of swaps that no one here knows about. Shiet, my friend is in the middle of popping a 2RZ Tacoma motor in his Miata with a goal of 800whp.

Hm. did he squeeze it in sideways, or do a whole rwd conversion?
Either way, massive kudos for getting something like that done
Also, your friend with the miata sounds like he's either a genius, or clinically insane; 800 whp in that lightweight thing
Let us know if it works, out I'm always interested in lightweight, high-HP cars (hence my desire to buy a Caterham V8 Levante if I win the lotto)

Have you considered just buying a better platform for a fast car?
I had a camry. I had dreams of going fast. I sold the camry.. end of story... plain and simple.
yea but that's YOU man im doing a 3sgte swap an you can get like 700whp outta those things you guys wanna know why i like 4.5 gen an below........because everyone DOES expect a 20 sec time outta it for that reason it is the ultimate sleeper which IM interested in.... people on the road try me all the time because of my exuasht setup they pull to the side an floor it lol its gettin pretty old. I'm looking forward to seein the look on there faces when im done with it and i fight back lol pricelesssss ima have my friend take pics of the reactions an post em hahaha
I can see why you would make a semi fast sleeper. I respect adams car a lot. I knew it from the beginning and we always talk about what his next adventure could be. But to he honest.. minus tony the tiger noone is going to but down the big numbers. On top of that FWD will max out pretty fast in the grip department. Im just trying to save the OP some money here. There are plenty of cars that can be sleepers... example... early 90's gs300 with the 2jzgte...
Or... I have a buddy with a 1994 bmw 325i... nothing sporty about the looks on that... his is 850whp with a gt42r turbo setup.
A 2JZ-GTE swap has been done before on a Camry!?!?!? Holy f**k, I thought of that a couple of months and told myself I was utterly insane for thinking of the idea... ASG14, your friend must have an awesome car...
