need help with stereo install

Hey there, I'm trying to help a friend with a 2000 camry LE install a panasonic cd player that i had extra. It worked perfectly in my car. We bought the 97+ dual harness. I followed the DIY on here: removed stock unit, unplugged everything. found the 2 extra plugs and used the harnesses we bought to plug them into. I wired red to red/ yellow to yellow/ ground to ground/ blue to blue, and plugged in the power antenna. the cd player would not turn on. I noticed that the stock unit had another plug next to the pwer antenna.. kind of a mini pwer antenna. not sure what its for. Can anyone spot the mistake i made?? i'd really appreciate it. thanks. i also tried red to yellow and yellow to red as these are the att and 12v.

Were there any issues with the stock stereo that was previously in the car?

Are the plugs all plugged in?

No errors in wire connections?

make sure the plug is clicked in on the back of the deck and also check fuses. If you splice the red wire into the yellow wire, then the deck would stay on constantly.

1. the stock unit worked but never lit up.

2. I tried replugging everything and rewiring it for a good while just hoping it would work. gave it a good 5 or 6 rewiring/retries. tried connecting ground to ground and even ground to metal still no go.

i suppose it could be the fuse. Will definitely give it a try tommorow

KiDGiB is right about the potential of the problem being a broken fuse... This could of happened during the process of interchanging both stereos.

not exactly sure... take out the coin tray (behind is a fuse box, and on back of tray is diagram) and locate the fuse for the radio. also, there should be a couple fuses on the back of the Panasonic stereo. check both.

^^^^^ In addition to checking fuses behind coin tray, also check fuse box under the hood. should be a fuse there for "radio"

you have a test light? or a multi-tester? see if you are getting power to the wires behind the radio
(red, yellow, and ground)

Did you ground it properly? Make sure that the ground wire is connected to a screw with no paint in the spot where you are putting the wire.
