4th Generation Importance of motor mounts?

So I went to my local mechanic and he said all of my 4 motor mounts are broken. I have been driving them for a while but I wanted to see how big of a difference would it be:
- I do notice my shift in gears are bit rough so I know it will fix that
- My idle is relatively pretty decent for a 220k car
- I do notice my transmission shifts a bit rough inconsistently but that could be a dying trans

I got the P0446/441 and he doesn't think it's the charcoal canister. Nevertheless I would like to take care of these two main issues before I hand it off to my little brother.

well hes a mechanic so only believe 50% of what he says. so the mounts may need replacement. one quick way for you to check is to have your bro or someone else hop in the car and have you watch the movement of the engine when shifting from drive to par and reverse. if the engine rocks a lot then the mounts are bad and should be replaced.
