I have a 1994 Camry v6 (vienta) auto. When i floor it it does not hit the redline (at about 6500rpm). In fact it changes at about 5700rpm or so. Is this normal?
mine starts limiting revs at above 6,350 or so. 2000 4 cylinder 2.2L (5s-fe california specs)
thanks for your post.
Where abouts is ur redline? Is it also about 6500rpm? thats weird that urs limit is higher than mine. and the 5s-fe is the 4 cyl version of my model as well (im pretty sure). do the 4's run higher than the 6's?
im mainly concerned as to whether this is normal or there is something wrong.
seems like 6,250 or so starts the red line, so that pretty much around number the rev limiter starts kicking in.
this is not my car's picture. i took it from a thread about missing O/D off indicator light on dash of gen4 camry 4 cylinder (someone posted a DIY how it looks and so on).

so urs changes at redline, here is a pic of mine:
as u can see my redline is 6500 but it limits it before 6000, at around 5600 or so i think.

when i shift ECT is off. shouldnt it still shift closer to redline?

hmm, i don't have ECT button, only "o/d off" on shifter which i think was depressed (o/d inactive).

And here I was thinking that it was cool that somebody had almost the exact same miles as me :P lol
thats my instrument panel and I'm the one who posted about the missing O/D issue LOL
if it's auto, it'll only hit redline if u put it in L or 2 i think..have ECT on and OD off helps accelerate, but i wouldn't drive with them on all the time.

my 5 speed manual hits redline all the time =D
k, isnt OD just allowing it to shift into 4th gear? so that shouldnt have an effect on the limiter? but ECT may, cause instead of hydralically controlled shifts it is controlled electronically? is that right?
