Camry 94 Emergency Flashers and L/R signals not blinking continuously

I have a 94 Camry LE.

The Emergency Flashers and L/R signals do not blink continuously. They blink for a minute and then stay on without blinking.

Any idea how to fix this?

I would suggest to replace the flasher relay, sounds like its failing on you, maybe a solid state one without the actual clicking relay so that if at one point down the road you want to use LED lights you could and not worry about it. the normal relay needs the load a standard bulb puts on the system and wont work with the little load an LED would put on it.

Yeah, Judd is right, it;s most likely the flasher relay. It's in behind the drivers side foot kick panel. I'll take a picture tomorrow if you like. Just let me know. I have a some spare Flasher Relay's as well (I can test to make sure they are good) if you want one cheap. Just let me know. You can also get one from your local junkyard.

The flasher relay is the relay in the yellow square.

Thanks, ASG14!

Is this a 94 Camry?
This seems to be behind the driver side fuse box, am I correct?

I opened the 2 underhood fuse boxes as well as the driver side fuse box and none of the fuses are blown.

It;s a '96, but the '94 is the same. It's just behind the hood release puller.

Thanks for the info.
I talked to a local parts store here and they have nothing titled 'flasher relay' for a 94 Camry. Would it be called something else? Is there a OEM Part # for this?

Also once I get the part, is it just the question of simply removing the wires going into the old relay and reconnecting to the new one?

It;s goign to be like $30 from the dealer most likely. Don;t need a part number to gte it from the dealer.

It's just a pull out, push in, liek the fuses are, but requires more force.

Went to a autowrecker and looked behind the driver foot side behind the hood release puller (of a Camry 94) and all I could find was three plugs, one black and the other a color I do not remember. The black was to the right. But all these have wires going into them. I thought it was just like a fuse or a relay, just a plug in.

Am I looking at the wrong ones?

I found the said relay in my car. The part # is 81980-12070. Would anyone have a flasher relay to spare to be shipped to Ontario, L5N 2S8 Canada?

Let me know the price please.

Regards

www.1sttoyotaparts.com has them for $35.24 US. Would also have to add $9.95 shipping. Your part number has been superseded to 81980-AA021, FYI.

It's a very common part for Toyotas from 1990 to to the late 1990's on almost all their products. I would think you could find a Toyota in a salvage yard that would have this flasher still in it for a lot less.

Picked one out of a 96 Camry in a autowrecker yard. It has the same part number as for the 94 Camry. And it works!!!

I got it for only $5. Dealer was asking $110 for a new. Whereas it was atleast $50 elsewhere on ebay and online stores.

Thanks to this forum!!
