MAF Cleaning

I have a Camry 1999 V6. I am looking for a DYI for cleaning the MAF. I have searched without much luck. Anyone here with specific knowledge??

Just unscrew it and spray the contacts inside with a MAF or Electronics parts cleaner, and let dry.

Bad as in - made the engine sluggish, none responsive?

Yeah, that sinmple. And no, not goign to harm anything as LONG as you use a proper cleaner (MAF or Electronic Parts Cleaner). All Auto Stores have it.

Here's a thread on a 4runner forum that has some good tips, especially about inhaling the cleaner.

Other things I've read say to be extremely cautious about damaging the fragile wires. They're essentially like light bulb filaments. Don't touch them with anything but the cleaning spray, no qtips, etc. Be careful not to drop the unit.

That's all I know. We don't have them on the 4-cyl.
